Universal Kempo Karate Schools - Kea'au Branch is just one of over 80 Universal Schools worldwide and one of five located right here on the Big Island of Hawaii. It is headed by 6th degree Chief Instructor Marie-Claire Stiles.The vision of the instructor at the Kea'au branch is to create successful adults, teens, and children through the training and disciplines of kempo karate. Through the building of strong, balanced individuals comes happy families, and a positive change in our communities.Universal Kempo Karate School's focus is on the art of self defense at all levels, from on the ground grappling to stand-up street fighting. Adults are encouraged to challenge themselves each time they step into the training area whether it be in competition sparring, physical endurance, or in changing a negative attitude into a positive outlook. Children's classes focus on the development off attitude, coordination, strength training and endurance along with their martial arts program. This enables them to transition to other sports prepared.Strong moral character-building is taught in every class from children to adults. Learning about qualities such as loyalty, honor, and trust, and how to practice them in our lives is most important. All students learn that how well you kick and punch doesn't make you the best martial artist, but what your heart reflects outwardly makes you a true martial artist.
