George was born in Twin Falls, Idaho 71 years ago.
During World War 11 at the age of 17 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He saw action and was wounded on Guam fighting in the South Pacific.
In 1968 he and his wife Lorraine moved to Alaska where George worked as an executive for the Boy Scouts of America, and where he first started painting.
In 1979 they made the big move to Hawaii and in 1982 George joined the Seniors Art Group. He Iikes painting in oil and his favorite subjects are lofty mountains and cold lakes.
About nine years ago, one cold wintry day, when George was home sick with the flu, the art Group unanimously elected him our Art Group Chairperson. This of course gave him a great deal of pleasure and, even now, nine years later, he gets quite emotional about it.
He and Lorraine have Iived in Leilani Estates for 17 years where they designed and built their own home and where on many occasions the Art Group has feasted on hot dogs and champagne. Ah, we poor starving artists!
They have one son David who still calls Alaska home (and also calls Dad at three o'clock in the morning for on-the-job advice,
