JANE BOOM

Jane is originally from Kansas City, Missouri, but at age seven moved to Hollywood, California.

In 1956 she and her husband came to Hawaii for a six weeks vacation, were bitten by the Hawaiian Love Bug and in 1961 moved over permanently.

Jane has had no formal art school training. When she attempted her first foray into art in high school, her teacher took one look at her painting and suggested she take up typing. However, persevering, she tried again in 1978 while living in Lanikai on Oahu and this time under the direction of Madeline Linsay, a Honolulu artist who paints under the brush name Manulani. She told teacher she couldn't draw a straight line but teacher said, no problem, since there are very few straight lines in painting anyway. Well, this time she hit the jack pot, as you can see. Her medium is oil and favorite subjects, seascapes and flowers.

After her husband passed away and while living in Kona, in 1986 Jane met Richard Boom and in 1987 they were married.

Jane and Richard have been living in Hawaiian Shores about two years. She has two grown daughters - Jody lives in Oklahoma, Michelle and grandson live in Hawaiian Beaches.

Jane's second hobby is the Hawaiian Hula. And since we seem to excel at thing we like to do, she has become a very accomplished dancer, belonged to several dance groups on Oahu and has danced professionally.

We are very happy that Jane has joined the Seniors of Paradise and the Art Group.
