KILE GOLDEN

Kile was bom in Tennessee but at age five was moved to Cleveland, Ohio. It is there he received a letter from his Uncle Sam and served his hitch in the Navy during the Korean War. After serving his country he returned to Cleveland, met Peggy and they were married. They have two grown sons living on the Mainland. One little boy passed away.

Kile says he always wanted to join the Seniors Art Group but thought their artistic standards were far to high for him. Well, it took only one session for him to find out the truth. High standards my eye! Seems about all they do is throw parties, go on Field Trips and eat. Well, that was artistic enough for Kile, so he joined them about three years ago. He started out painting by the numbers but found it too difficult. You see, to paint by the numbers you must be able to count above ten. So Kile started doing his own sketches and as you can see he has certainly found his niche there.

When Kile decided to retire he heard Horace Greeley's clarion challenge "Go West young man, go West and seek your fortune so he and Peggy moved to warmer climes. They tried Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado but after a visit to Hawaii they decided this is the place. They moved to the Big Island on October 31, 1985 and have belonged to our Seniors Club about the same number of years. Kile seldom misses a General Meeting or a Board Meeting. He was President of our Seniors Club for two years. He is our official photographer (that's why you seldom see him in the photos). Kile and Peggy publish our newsletter and Kile is our kitchen manager. Kile teaches computer courses for Seniornet at the University of Hawaii. He is also on the Neighborhood Watch here in the Park and he belongs to the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Shriners. In his "spare time" keeps hammering away on the house where he and Peggy live here in Paradise Park.
